Hello and welcome to the June Stampin’ Creative blog hop. Our theme this month is Make a Card, Send a Card. If you have arrived from Sarah I know you’ll have seen something special. If you have started here – welcome!
I think most of us are a bit guilty of making cards and stockpiling them, so this month we want to encourage you to send your creations! There is something so special about receiving a handmade card, especially “just because”. There are groups now which exist just for this – you sign up and commit to sending other people cards – I think it’s a fantastic idea.
My card today is a simple one, but I think effective. We’ve had some very bad news in my family this week and this card is for my sister, Liz. I know she’ll see this before the card arrives, but I want to send her as much love as I can straightaway. I think the card looks better in real life, so she can look forward to receiving it – I’m flying over tomorrow with our dad, so she will get it delivered by hand.
I’ve used two stamp sets for this card – one that carried over, High Tide and one new one, Colorful Seasons, which has proved very popular. I also used more colours than I often do, there are five here! I took a 148.5 x 100mm piece of Shimmery White cardstock and used Marina Mist, Island Indigo, Tranquil Tide and Pool Party with an aqua painter to create the sea. I actually made two and they look totally different – I love how watercolour effects are never the same twice! I put the card under paper and weights to dry and then stamped the birds from High Tide in Smoky Slate (Liz won’t thank me for this as she hates grey, but it was the right colour for them!). Finally, I rubbed embossing buddy over the card and stamped the sentiment from Colorful Seasons in versamark and heat embossed in silver. The base is Island Indigo, which really picks up the colours of the sea.
It says everything I need it to and goes with all my love.
Now onto Eimear for more wonderful inspiration – I can’t wait to see what she has for us! Click the button below to go to her blog. There is also a full list of our posts at the bottom.
Apologies for the long gap in my posts – I’ll be back weekly again from now on.
