Last day of Sale-a-bration

It’s the last day of Sale-a-bration (SAB), so I thought I’d post an extra blog, to remind you!  Today is your last opportunity to get a free, limited edition item with every £45 you spend – some items are already unavailable, so you may need to be flexible.

This is a great time to stock up on basics and reap the rewards!  The other things to think about buying now are the retiring in-colours, so ink pads, ink refills, cardstock and DSP, as once the retiring list is announced on April 10th, they’ll fly off the shelves.  We already know that these will retire, so get in early and stock up on your favourites!  The retiring colours are:

Cucumber Crush
Delightful Dijon
Mint Macaron
Tip Top Taupe
Watermelon Wonder (my favourite of the five and the one I will miss most)

I’ve made a quick and easy card to show off a couple of the colours, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe:

Sale-a-bration, SAB, Watercolour Words, In colours, In colors

I used the In-Colour DSP in Tip Top Taupe and Watercolour Words to show them off, along with a base of Cucumber Crush. My favourite Stitched framelit dies and Layering Ovals add a great border to my popped up sentiment in Cucumber Crush.  I think the sentiment says how I feel about Sale-a-bration!

Like it?  Get your favourites now and add SAB items too!  To place an order just click on the “Shop with Me” button to the right and don’t forget to use the host code – UDS3QBUK – if your order is less than £150 to receive an extra gift from me.  Over £150 don’t use it as you’ll get the rewards to spend and you’ll still get the gift from me.  As an additional SAB incentive, if you are intending to place a large order, you will receive an additional £20 in host rewards if your order is £200 or more.

If your list adds up to £99 or more, consider signing up as a demo and joining my tea of Crafting Maestros.  It’s a great deal – choose £130’s worth of products, pay £99 and no P&P and during SAB you also get to choose two additional stamp sets absolutely free!  If you are interested and want my help  choosing your starter kit, just get in touch.  If you know what you want click on the “Join my team” button on the right and get started.

I hope you’ve enjoyed Sale-a-bration with me!  See you on Sunday.

Balloon Celebration for CAS Colours & Sketches

Sorry for going AWOL this week – Ben and I were on holiday, first in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and then for a few days with my aunt, who lives in Grantown-on-Spey.  I didn’t plan ahead, so there were no posts – I’ll try better next time!

So it’s time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge – this week Louise has chosen these for us to play with:

CC&S color187-001

So we have two of the new in colours along with a lovely neutral.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t have long to pull this together and fortunately, I got an idea nice and quickly!  The pink and purple said balloons to me, so I pulled out the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  It’s so versatile and I love the font of the sentiments.  Here’s my card:

I decided after I tried a couple of variations, that I wanted some shine on the balloons.  So for the Sweet Sugarplum balloon I stamped in Versamark, then the ink, then added clear embossing powder and used my heat gun.  For the two Flirty Flamingo balloons I did clear embossing in the same way, with the bubbly pattern effect.  I think it adds some depth and texture.  I stamped two of the strings in Chocolate Chip and the “let us celebrate” string in Flirty Flamingo.  Hopefully you can also see that I layered white on white – thin Whisper White on a thick Whisper White base.  This same colour layering (especially white) is something I’ve learned from other members of the Design Team and I really think it adds just a bit more interest, while the card still remains CAS.

Please come and check out the other Design Team entries and do enter – we love seeing what you create.

See you on Sunday (really!).

Another masculine birthday card

I’ve really enjoyed creating some more masculine cards recently – I’m finding the Swirly Birds stamp set and Swirly Scribble framelits lend themselves extremely well to this.   I also think that two of the new in-colours work brilliantly for this – Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy.  I was playing around with these colours a few weeks back, and this is one of the cards that I didn’t happen to feature in the Stampin’ Creative blog hop:

Swirly Bird, Swirly Scribbles, Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, masculine

This is an easy, CAS card, I think.  The base is Emerald Envy, with a whisper White mat.  I stamped the sentiment from Watercolour Wishes (of course!) in Archival Basic Black first, then stamped the large solid swirls in Emerald Envy.  Next, the outlines in Dapper Denim and finally I filled in with the small swirl, also in Dapper Denim.  I tried not to overcrowd it.  To add a bit of interest and texture, I cut one of the swirls out using the Swirly Scribbles framelit dies and layered it over the central Emerald Envy swirl.  As usual, I constructed with tombow.  That’s it!  Hope you like it.

Come back on Tuesday – it will be my 100th blog, so there will be blog candy on offer!

Stampin’ Creative May blog hop

I’m not sure where this month has gone, but it’s time for another blog hop!  You may have arrived from Kim’s page and lovely projects or started here – either way, welcome!

This month’s theme is “sneak peek” – we are showing off items from the new catalogue that goes live on Tuesday.  As demonstrators we are allowed to order selected items a month early and then we get to show you the results!

I was very excited to see the gift bag punch board in the new catalogue, as thanks to a spending spree last Autumn I already had it!  My sister Liz and I went a bit crazy buying “Memory Keepers” punch boards when we discovered Michaels craft shop and it’s this brand that supplies Stampin’ Up! with their boards.  Anyway, I decided to make a few gift bags using both sides of the (another sneak peek) Bohemian DSP:

There’s just one new in colour on show here – Delightful Dijon.  The others are existing colours (Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo and Rich Razzleberry), but they work very well together I think.  There are three widths of bag to be made with the board, with a fixed depth of 2 inches and the height can be anything between 4 and 12 inches.  Plenty of options here!

Next I decided to make some cards inspired by the colours of the DSP using the (carried over, hooray) Larger Than Life letters and the incredibly handy Whisper White notelets, which are even pre-scored to speed things up:

To show how much matting and borders can change a card, I took another “smile” and matted it with Island Indigo and added a card base of Rich Razzleberry:

I think that a set of five (perhaps adding “sorry” and “happy”) in a gift bag would make a lovely present.

Finally, I decided to show off all the new in-colours on one card:

I already love these and am struggling to choose a favourite.  If absolutely forced, I think it would have to be Cucumber Crush (the second from the top).  So let me introduce you to the 2015-2017 in-colours.  From the top we have:

  • Delightful Dijon
  • Cucumber Crush
  • Watermelon Wonder
  • Tip Top Taupe
  • Mint Macaron

I’ve used the swoosh from the (carried over) Work of Art stamp set, along with a sentiment from a sadly retired set – So You.  I will really miss this set – a lovely mixture of words and images and will continue to use it for my own personal cards.

I stamped on Whisper White card, matted it on Delightful Dijon and finally put it on a card base of Cucumber Crush.

Next on the blog hop we have Emily – I know you’ll enjoy her projects!  Looking forward to seeing you next month!
