Quick and easy card – use up your DSP stash

So, us demos have all the excitement of a new catalogue to drool over and trust me, its great, but for now don’t overlook the existing Spring/Summer catalogue.  Lots of things are retiring, some are carrying over and if you love something you should be checking into it now – anything that’s on the retiring list is only available while things last and they are flying off the shelves.  The other thing to mention is that all bundles also retire, even if the individual elements are carrying over, so if you want to save 10%, again, you’ll need to move fast.

Today’s card is a quick and easy card, designed to help you use up your DSP stash – admit it, you have a pile of loved and unused DSP you like to look at but can’t bring yourself to cut or use.  Well, you need to!  You need room for the gorgeous new paper coming in the new catalogue!  So be brave and arm yourself with your trimmer or scissors and make some lovely cards.  And as we were reminded at last week’s Stampin’ Up! OnStage event, make a card, send a card.

Fruit Stand DSP, quick and easy, Dragonfly Dreams

My base is thick Whisper White, half a sheet of A4 (297 x 105mm) and scored at 148.5mm.  If you’re making more than one card it’s faster to score the full sheet of A4 and then cut into two bases.  Because I was making more than one card, I cut the DSP into the same size as the card once folded, so 148.5 x 105mm and then cut it in half on the diagonal.  Next I glued the DSP onto the base with tom bow (liquid glue) and then stamped the sentiment from Dragonfly Dreams (carrying over, I’m very pleased to say) in Watermelon Wonder.  Quick and simple!

Like it?  To place an order just click on the “Shop with Me” button to the right and don’t forget to use the host code – UDS3QBUK – if your order is less than £150 to receive an extra gift from me.  Over £150 don’t use it as you’ll get the rewards to spend and you’ll still get the gift from me.

If your list adds up to £99 or more, consider signing up as a demo and joining my team of Crafting Maestros.  It’s a great deal – choose £130’s worth of products, pay £99 and no P&P. If you are interested and want my help  choosing your starter kit, just get in touch.  If you know what you want click on the “Join my team” button on the right and get started.

Finally, don’t forget we are taking bookings for our Summer Luxury Craft Retreat on Saturday 10th June and if you sign up before 10pm tomorrow evening we’ll give you two mini beauty treatments for the price of one!  See more about it here or on my Wiltshire Luxury Craft Retreats page.

See you on Wednesday.

Wildlife by Stampin’ Creative blog hop

It’s a new year and we have fresh new images to go with it!  Hope you like them!  Whether you’ve arrived from the wonderful Louise or started your hop here, you are very welcome.  I hope you like what we’ve got for you today.

This month our theme is Wildlife – when I found that out I decided straightaway that I would use the Dragonfly Dreams set for my card – it was a must-have for me as soon as I saw the new Spring/Summer catalogue!

My card is actually a stepped up version of the last card I posted, designed for a recent card class.  If you want to see the original version, click here to see the post.  Today’s card is still pretty simple but it has added bling and texture – not words you often hear me saying!

Dragonfly Dreams

My base is thick Whisper White and the dragonflies are stamped in Smoky Slate, with the solid body in Island Indigo, stamped off once as I didn’t want to completely cover up all the detail underneath.  The wings have been given shimmer using the clear Wink of steals brush.  The sentiment is also in Island Indigo.  No change so far!  Next I cut the dragonfly wing out of vellum using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit Dies and the Big Shot and added clear Wink of Stella for a gossamer effect.  I stuck that to the central, complete dragonfly using glue dots at the top of the body and then finished it off with five tiny rhinestones (the ones that are connected) for added sparkle!

That’s it from me today – hope you like it.  Click on the next button below to hop to Gina.  There’s also a full list of all today’s blogs below.

See you on Wednesday.

My first Spring/Summer sneak peek

I mentioned in my last post that I attended OnStage on Saturday. When I signed up to Stampin’ Up! it was, as everyone always says, for the discount!  I didn’t intend to try to make a business out of it. I was going to be a hobby demo. The thing is, I love it so much that I like to share it.  I love seeing people make their first card and being amazed that they made it. One of the nicest things that someone said recently about a card they made at my class was that they’d pay for it in a shop – it was that good.

So, back to OnStage. What a fabulous event!  We spend all day hearing about the new products, playing with them and being encouraged to do whatever we want to improve our business. There’s no hard sell. You’re as welcome as a hobby demo as you are being the number one demo globally (that’s Mary Fish, in case you are wondering). I’ve made wonderful friends being part of this family and I really mean that, it’s a family.  I’m doubly lucky that my sister is part of this too. So, the next Onstage event is in Amsterdam and we (Europe) get to host the Live event which a Thursday to Saturday extravaganza of crafting!  Want to come?  Join my team.  It’s that simple.

You are probably thinking I don’t have a card and am waffling on again.  But I do!  It’s a sneak peek of one of the new sets – Dragonfly Dreams. I love dragonflies so I was was especially excited when this set was revealed. Even better that I got this for free on Saturday!  Here’s my card:

I wiped the Shimmery White cardstock all over with embossing buddy before I started, as Archival Black takes a while to dry on this cardstock.  I stamped the body and wing detail in the black and then stamped the more solid wings (it’s a two part stamp) using a pad made with a babywipe.  I put drops of Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay and Versamark and used that to fill in the wings.  I then used gold embossing powder and heated it and as you’ll see, the Archival Black hadn’t dried fully as the body and part of the wing detail are gold rather than black.  When I do this again I’ll be less heavy handed with the Versamark to see how that works, but I love this, I have to admit!  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  I have a skinny mat of Bermuda Bay and the base is Rich Razzleberry.

Hope you like my first sneak peek – there are plenty more coming!

See you on Sunday.
