Balloon Celebration for CAS Colours & Sketches

Hello!

Sorry for going AWOL this week – Ben and I were on holiday, first in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and then for a few days with my aunt, who lives in Grantown-on-Spey.  I didn’t plan ahead, so there were no posts – I’ll try better next time!

So it’s time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge – this week Louise has chosen these for us to play with:

So we have two of the new in colours along with a lovely neutral.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t have long to pull this together and fortunately, I got an idea nice and quickly!  The pink and purple said balloons to me, so I pulled out the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  It’s so versatile and I love the font of the sentiments.  Here’s my card:

I decided after I tried a couple of variations, that I wanted some shine on the balloons.  So for the Sweet Sugarplum balloon I stamped in Versamark, then the ink, then added clear embossing powder and used my heat gun.  For the two Flirty Flamingo balloons I did clear embossing in the same way, with the bubbly pattern effect.  I think it adds some depth and texture.  I stamped two of the strings in Chocolate Chip and the “let us celebrate” string in Flirty Flamingo.  Hopefully you can also see that I layered white on white – thin Whisper White on a thick Whisper White base.  This same colour layering (especially white) is something I’ve learned from other members of the Design Team and I really think it adds just a bit more interest, while the card still remains CAS.

Please come and check out the other Design Team entries and do enter – we love seeing what you create.

See you on Sunday (really!).
