Thank you, friend

Hello!

On Saturday I ran a class for friend at her house – the first time I’ve done that.  It took lists and organisation to make sure I took everything I needed, but I made it!  Just.  About 5 minutes before leaving I realised I hadn’t put my heat tool in with everything else, so quickly added it.  As two of the cards involved embossing, I was very pleased I remembered it, as my friend lives a 40 minute drive away!  My friend’s daughter and a friend were part of the group so I wanted to make sure the cards had universal appeal – my recent purchase of the hostess set Love You Lots seemed perfect:

Love You Lots, Ribbon, Melon Mambo, Thank You

I know that Soph and her daughter also love Melon Mambo, so I made sure I included that!  The elephant and mouse are stamped in archival Basic Black and then coloured with  blender pens and Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride.  At least one person went off piste and we had pink elephants and mice as well as the more sedate way I coloured mine!  The sentiment is from the same set and is stamped in Melon Mambo.  The Whisper White top layer has a skinny Smoky Slate layer and then we tied the Melon Mambo striped ribbon around it, securing on the back with a glue dot to stop it moving around.  In the cards we did on Saturday we placed the sentiment on the right hand side of the card, rather than the left.  I thought it was more balanced – the photo is of my prototype and although it’s fine I think the other placement works better.  You’ll have to imagine it!

Hostess sets are great value and often have images and seniments, so you can create whole cards from one stamp sets.  I often overlook them somehow, but this one was too cute to skip over.  Hope you like it!

See you on Thursday for CAS Colours & Sketches.
