Early Christmas card for CAS Colours & Sketches

Sorry for the gap in my posts – life intervened in the form of a weekend away, work and general “stuff”!  But I’m back today with my Design Team card for CAS Colours & Sketches.  This week Karen is hosting and she’s given us this great sketch:

sketch 184

A great, versatile sketch, I think, with lots of possibilities.  I tried a few things out and decided I wanted to flip the image (allowed) and I’ll admit, I went a little bit off piste because my image isn’t centred!  But it is most definitely inspired by the sketch:

CC&S #184, Christmas, Joyful Nativity

This is a clean and simple Christmas card, using new DSP and a new stamp set from the annual catalogue.  It’s not long until demos get to see the Autumn/Winter catalogue, which will have lots of new Christmas goodies in and I can’t wait!  We’re currently getting little sneak peaks on the demo website of what is coming.  If you want that too then join up, I’d love to have you on my team!  Back to my card – although you can’t see it, the base is Cherry Cobbler.  I added a full card size of the This Christmas Specialty DSP, rather than fiddle around with strips, although I’ll admit that was extravagant!  I added a Very Vanilla mat, thinner but the same width and then heat embossed the angel from the Joyful Nativity stamp set in gold.  Finally, I added a sentiment in Cherry Cobbler from the same set.  I’m pleased with this and if you got stingy with the DSP it would be a quick and easy one to reproduce in numbers without using loads of material (always good, when you have 90 – 100 Christmas card to make every year, as I do!).

Hope you like it!  See you on Saturday for the Stampin’ Creative blog hop – we are featuring kits.

  1. Love how you have rotated the sketch to suit the gold glimmer Christmas Angel. Beautiful CAS Christmas design. I’m getting a little worried that I have hardly thought about Christmas!
Thanks for the inspiration. Hugs Bev x
