A twist on Hearts

Hello!

Last week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge was a really fun one – you have time to enter as it doesn’t close until tomorrow evening, UK time.  My Design Team card for it is here if you want to see it.  I decided to make a variation on it as I had a card class on Saturday and needed it to be C6 sized, as I didn’t have any matching envelope paper to make the square shape the original card required.  Sometimes, necessity really is the mother of invention!  I also made a couple of other changes.  But first, here’s my card:

Layered Love, Sweet & Sassy framlelits, CC&S #182

My other changes were to add a bit of bling with the single diamante and to clear emboss the sentiment.  I’ll admit we didn’t do that in class, I decided to do it later, when it was too late to share it with my attendees.  They loved the effect (I did it while they were making their own cards, as an experiment), so I’ve promised we’ll use it next time.  My sister Liz (her fab blog is here) mentioned that she’d seen a post by Pootles where she talked about this – you use embossing buddy as normal, then stamp in Versamark, followed by the ink colour you want.  Finally, add clear embossing powder and heat.  I’ve done clear embossing before, just by adding the powder to wet ink (you have to be fast!), but this gives a better image as you’re using Versamark.  I think it looks great, so thanks to Liz and Sam!

I have to admit, I think this card is better than the original, although not quite so clean and simple  What do you think?  Hope you like it.

See you on Thursday for CAS Colours & Sketches.
