I held a card class yesterday afternoon and one of the designs I decided to do used the new Vertical Greetings stamp set. This was on my “must buy as soon as it’s available” list – I adore the vertical sentiments and the tall plants – this is going to be an often used set I think!
I decided to make a square card, as I though the dimensions would work – this is 4-3/4 inches square (remember my quirk with using inches for square cards?!). The base is my favourite pink, Melon Mambo, with a skinny Old Olive border around a 4-1/4 square white layer. I prepped the stamps by stamping them in Versamark then wiping it off with my hand (a tip I saw online but am sorry I can’t remember who shared it), as this helps give a better image with a new stamp. By the time we used it in class, there was no need to do this. I coloured the main image in using Melon Mambo and Old Olive markers, huffed on it to moisten and stamped in the centre. Then I inked up Happy Birthday and stamped that on the right. These two stamps could use the stamp-a-majig for accuracy but I have to admit I free-handed these. Finally, I cut a strip of the new 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon in Melon Mambo and tied it in a simple knot (I used a glue dot to attach it to the back, and under the knot, to secure it). I put it together with tombow. My class loved this pretty, feminine birthday card, hope you do too!
See you on Tuesday.
