Swirly tag for CAS Colours & Sketches

Like everyone else that has seen the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue, I fell for the Swirly Bird stamp set and matching Swirly Scribbles framelits.  So it wasn’t much of a surprise that I decided to use them for this week’s CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.  Our host Bev has set us this great sketch:

To start with, I did wonder about using something other than a tag, but in the end that’s what worked best with my design:

Swirly Bird, Swirly Scribbles, Copper

I’m on a mission to design some masculine birthday cards at the moment and I’m finding the Swirly sets are perfect for it!

My base is Basic Black, with a Whisper White matt.  I cut my tag out of Cajun Craze and used the scalloped tag topper punch to create my tag.  I rubbed embossing buddy over it then stamped the swirl from Swirly Bird in versamark and heat embossed in the new, gorgeous copper embossing powder.  I cut a swirl out in Dapper Denim using the Swirly Scribbles framelits and my Big Shot.  This one calls for the new multipurpose platform and the precision plate.  I lined my two elements up on the card to work out placement for my sentiment, then used embossing buddy, versamark and copper embossing powder as before.  The sentiment is from Birthday Banners – I love the small sentiment for the big day! Finally I constructed my card with tom bow and the fine-tip glue pen for the swirl and attached the tag with some of the new, fab copper washi tape from the Affectionately Yours set.  I also jazzed up the envelope really quickly with a strip of it too.

Welcome to my new follower – it’s lovely that you want to see all my posts!

That’s it!  I hope you like it.  See you on Sunday.

  1. FAB masculine card and the swirly scribbles do work well. Looking forward to getting these dies myself 😉 Love the shimmer of the silver embossing on the tag and I especially like how you have used washi tape to ‘secure’ your tag too. Great use of the sketch. Hugs Bev x

  2. Love the copper embossing for the sentiment and the swirl. I’m going to have to dig my heat tool out at some point to try it out but it’s a tad too warm at the mo.
