Stampin’ Creative May blog hop – sneak peek!

Hello,

Welcome!  If you’ve arrived from Louise, you’ve already seen some wonderful projects. If you’ve started here, you are very welcome.  Last month we featured items that are retiring when the new catalogue goes live (just a few days to go!).  This month we are featuring sneak peeks of new products – I’m very excited to show you some things that are coming!

We have two new members joining our hop from this month – you’ll see Sarah’s name on the list below.  We also have Gina, although she’s not in the hop this month as along with Mikaela and Queen Pip she is on the Stampin’ Up! incentive trip (that means they did really well as demonstrators last year, so I’m part of a very illustrious group).  Actually, Sarah is also on the incentive trip – somehow she managed to fit in a post in amongst all her packing and excitement!  Sadly, Lesley has decided to step down from this month – we will miss her.  Thanks for all your amazing projects Lesley.

As demonstrators we get to pre-order a month early as well as see the catalogue so we know all the wonderful new products that are being launched.  If you’d like that too, just click on the “Join my team” button on the right.  Not sure?  For starters, you’ll get £130 worth of product for just £99 and 20% discount off your orders.  Even better, if you sign up in June you get two stamp set for free as well.  You can choose any two sets you like – it’s a fantastic offer!

Anyway, back to the sneak peeks!  I made three cards to show you today.  First up is the Playful Backgrounds set:

Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Playful Backgrounds, Painter's Palette

I was inspired by a colour scheme at Farrow & Ball for this one – there was a gorgeous blue, green and black room which caught my eye on their website.  So, I used two of the stamps from the set and stamped the open circles in Basic Black first, then, the filled circles in Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim.  I’ll admit, these are my favourites of the new in colours.  Then I decided that a little hint of pink would work, so added Flirty Flamingo, stamped off once.  The sentiment is from the new Painter’s Palette set, also showcased in the next card!  I stamped that in Emerald Envy, cut it out using framelet from the Project Life Paper Clips thinlits (from the current catalogue), cut another in Basic Black, cut it in half and framed the sentiment, then popped it up on dimensionals.  I gave this a skinny black border and a base of Emerald Envy.  I really like this one!

Next, I decided to put all five in-colours together.  There’s been some debate amongst demos about whether they go together.  In some situations I’d say they don’t, but here I hope I’ve made it work:

Painter's Palette, 2016-2018 in-colours

I stamped the artist’s easel from Painter’s Palette in Basic Black and then stamped another on a piece of scrap Whisper White and added the in-colour swooshes – there are three of differing size to choose from!  Don’t know the in-colour names yet?  Meet Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  I fussy cut the “picture” out, then popped it up on my card base with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Emerald Envy.  I put a skinny mat of Emerald Envy behind the Whisper White layer and put it together with a Dapper Denim base.

Finally, I decided to go monochrome and chose an in-colour I’d overlooked.  I wasn’t sure I liked it until I saw it like this:

This is Sweet Sugarplum!  Did you overlook it above?  So did I!  But given centre stage I think it’s gorgeous.  I used a current (and carrying over) stampset – one of my current favourites, Garden in Bloom, and stamped the flower outlines full strength and then filled them with a mixture of full strength and stamped off once centres.  I thought the sentiment from the same set was particularly appropriate given I’d mostly been ignoring this colour so far!  This is a one layer notecard, so super quick and easy to produce.  One ink, one stampset and a couple of blocks and you’re good to go!  So it turns out I really like three of the new in-colours – I wonder which one will change my mind next!

Don’t forget to check Louise’s post if you entered the blog hop giveaway last month – she is announcing the winner today!

  1. Hi Caro! My, your first card certainly packs a punch! Bold and striking, love that these images are perfect for men too. Like the idea of your second card, keeping the background so clean and white, doesn’t distract the eye from the easel and keeps it smart, not found that stamp so easy to use, so a good idea there! And your last card – so soft and gentle.
Thanks for your kind words hun, it’s been fun working alongside you! x
