Botanical Thanks for CAS Colours & Sketches

It’s my second week as hostess at CAS Colours & Sketches and this week it’s a sketch:

sketch 173

If you think I took advantage of setting the challenges and had my card planned in advance, you’d be wrong! I was scratching my head as usual this weekend.  I tried a few things that just weren’t working, but once I flipped the sketch it came together really quickly:

Watercolour Wishes, Washi tape, Mossy Meadow

Now I’m the first to admit that along with hoarding DSP (come on you know you do too!), I struggle to use washi tape.  But I decided it was perfect for this sketch!  So I got my until now unused Botanical Gardens Designer washi tape tape rolls out and decided they were perfect for the job, especially as I got to use Mossy Meadow again before it goes for good. The other colours here are Cajun Craze and if you look carefully, those flowers have tiny little centres of Hello Honey which I really like.  So, my base is Mossy Meadow, the mat is Whisper White and the sentiment is from the Watercolour Wishes (yes, again – I really like the font and the sentiments!) and is stamped in Cajun Craze.

Once I’d come up with this quick and easy CAS design I made about a half a dozen more, using different washi tapes, colours and sentiments and even one with DSP – it’s a really versatile card.

I also decided to decorate the envelope using more washi tape :

Washi tape, envelope decoration

Really quick, but effective, yes?

I hope you like my take on this week’s sketch – play along with us and post your card, we love seeing what you create.

  1. I almost used the botanical gardens designer washi tape too!! And given my current obsession with the watercolour wishes kit, we weren’t that far off identical cards!! Liz x
