I’ve had it in mind all week to enter the current Addicted to CAS challenge, as I loved the challenge banner:
How can you resist?! Especially as I am also a big fan of Clean and Simple cards. If you fancy a sketch challenge as well, hop on over to CAS Colours & Sketches, where I just happen to be a member of the Design Team!
Anyway, back to CAKE! Sadly, I don’t have many stamp sets that meet the brief for this, although sometimes being limited is a good thing, I think. Too many choices and it can be hard to narrow down a design. Anyway, I decided to use “Sprinkles of Life”, which is in the current annual catalogue and is this year’s charity stampset. For every purchase, Stampin’ Up! make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House charity, a very worthy cause. I also decided to use a new DSP, from the Spring/Summer catalogue – It’s My Party. Unusually, this comes in a pad of 48 sheets of 30×30 cms, so my sister and I went halves on it, as we do have a tendency to hoarde DSP! The colours and patterns are gorgeous – I know I’m going to enjoy using this. Ok, and hoarding some, I admit it. So, here’s my card:
I took the colours in the DSP as my inspriation – there’s Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Mint Macaron dancing on Whisper White – isn’t it gorgeous, even just as a border? So, I stamped the cupcake case and the candle in Melon Mambo, stamped off once so it didn’t overpower the Mint Macaron icing. I stamped the sentiment in Crushed Curry. I added a skinny Melon Mabo mat, a larger border of the DSP and finally put it all on a base of thick Whisper White (I am so glad that Stampin’ Up! introduced this).
So that’s it – clean and simple, with a lot of fun, I think! Hope you like it too.
