Welcome to Finn!

Today’s card is one I made fairly recently, to congratulate my lovely upline Eimear and her family on a new addition.  Finn is now 8 weeks old, so I managed to get the card to them some weeks ago now!  Eimear has already featured it on her blog (you can see her work here) and I thought it was about time I showed if off too.

Having chosen colours of blue and silver, I decided (for a reason that escapes me now) to stamp rather than emboss the “Baby”.  I’m stubborn or I would have reverted to heat embossing as it took loads of attempts to get it to print clearly.  Then I messed it up with masking for the “Boy”, then the mobile.  And so on.  But I finally got my stamping order and masking correct and was successful!

I used a base of Island Indigo, one of my favourite colours, added a very skinny mat of Night of Navy behind Silver Glimmer paper (sadly, these are retiring so grab them by 2nd June if you love them as much as I do) and finally stamped on Whisper White in Night of Navy and Silver.  I stamped the separate star in silver for a pop of interest.

I lined the envelope flap and introduced another colour (Pistachio Pudding) using the paper from the All Abloom DSP stack, which retires with the annual catalogue.  I took ages to get this initially as it didn’t appeal to me and then I realised my mistake as I saw it being used – how often does that happen?!

Hope you like it!

  1. Well I hope it happens often for other people, because it happens all the time to me!! It’s a lovely card – I especially like the little silver star. Nice touch.
